Best: An Intimate Portrait (Signed by Best and Parkinson)

Signed by George Best and Michael Parkinson to the titlepage. Original red cloth with the excellent and unclipped dust-jacket. Page edged foxed and a few spots to front endpapers. 144 pages. Sir Michael and George Best became friends when the latter arrived in Manchester at the age of 16. In 2022 during an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, Parkinson said, "George was my pal, and the greatest player I ever saw … by a mile. I can't talk about George without wanting to cry". The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland star died at the age of 59 in 2005 due to illnesses linked to alcoholism. Sir Michael Parkinson passed in 2023 at the age of 88.
