Ex-libris sticker to front paste-down from Gerrit Komrij (1944-2012), a well-known Dutch poet, novelist and feared critic whose large collection of books was auctioned after he died in 2012. The libretto for the opera Saffo, written by Jacob van Lennep (1802-1868); the music was written by composer Johannes Bernardus van Bree. Van Lennep was a popular writer, sometimes referred to as the Dutch Sir Walter Scott, and best known for his Dutch legends and his history of the Netherlands for children. Scarce.
