German translation of 'De Profundis', or 'Letter: in Prison and in Chains'. With the ownership signature of Roger Senhouse (1899-1970), co-owner of publishing house Secker & Warburg and last lover of Lytton Strachey, with his pencilled signature to front pastedown alongside 'Berlin 1926'. With copious pencilled notes across front endpapers and in the margin of the text, mainly to do with the publishing history of 'De Profundis' and the various omissions and textual alterations by Robert Ross and others. 8vo. pp. [vi] + [183] + [2] Original black cloth boards with red cloth spine and gilt lettering.
