BROOKE, Leslie (drawn by) SKU: 20889

London: Frederick Warne, 1949.

Johnny Crow worked his toosh off to create a majestic garden, using rake and hoe. Thus, Leonard Leslie Brooke begins one of his classic children's tales involving the different animal friends invited to Johnny's garden party. Reprint of the 1907 first edition, now very hard to locate. Publisher's pictorial paper covered boards with white cloth spine. Eight colour plates and numerous drawings in the text. Illustrated endpapers of "the maze in Johnny's garden". Not often found in such a well-preserved jacket. Lovely humorous drawings supported by rhyming text.
