The fourth of final poem in Eliot's 'Four Quartets' collection, first published in September 1942 after being delayed for over a year because of the air raids on Great Britain and Eliot's failing health. The title refers to a the small village in Cambridgeshire, where Nicholas Ferrer established an Anglican community in 1626, and from which Eliot drew many historical elements and symbols into his long poem.
