First Edition, first issue, with 'Ihad' instead of 'I had' to p.7. 8vo. pp 135. Original blue boards, lettered in gilt to spine. With the slightly chipped dust-jacket, small scuff to head of spine, but a VG copy in the price-clipped d-j with some light edgewear, most noticeable at head of spine. John Gielgud's copy, with his bookplate to front pastedown. Gielgud's several recordings of Eliot's works over nearly half a century remain among the very best. First performed at the 1953 Edinburgh Festival in a production starring Paul Rodgers, Margaret Leighton, and Denholm Elliott.
