Charming example of the popular ladies' almanac bound in full red Morocco and housed in a lined slipcase. These pocket-sized almanacs featured romantic poetry and stories by prominent poets of the day and were popular as gifts. This example also has six plates engraved in intaglio after Carracci, Guerchin, Dominiquin, F. Mola, Raphael, and Poussin. At the back is a seciton called "Souvenirs" with each month of the year embellished with an engraving leaving a blank space in the middle of the page for the lady owner to write key dates or other aide memoirs. Binding in lovely condition, just a touch rubbed at head of the backstrip. Interior bright and clean without inscriptions etc. 200 pages. Slipcase with marbled sides, slightly rubbed at edges. All edges gilt. A most attractive little volume.
