Edition de luxe, limited to 100 copies, in publisher's full vellum, signed by René Bull. First Edition. Post 4to (11 x 9 ins). Original cream vellum binding with gilt lettering and decoration, spine slightly soiled. All edges gilt, very bright. Pictorial endpapers decorated with silhouettes of toreadors. Sixteen coloured plates by Bull, behind captioned tissue-guards, plus numerous line drawings in the text. Endpapers embrowned as usual. No old names or inscriptions, contents wonderfully fresh and clean. A bright and clean copy. René Bull was born in Dublin and went to Paris to study engineering, but left this in 1982 to pursue an art career in London. Other works illustrated by Bull include La Fontaine's Fables (1905), The Arabian Nights (1912), and Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám (1913).
