Third edition, 'revised with notices of recent discoveries' by H.F. Tozier. Large 8vo (9.75 x 7 ins); pp xxviii + 460; frontispiece and approx. 40 leaves of engraved plates, with tissue-guards, plus numerous in-text illusts, diagrams and maps. Additional engraved titlepage. Luxuriously bound as a school prize in full tan tree calf by Bickers of Leicester, with extra gilt spine and raised bands and gilt title lettering on morocco label, gilt chain borders to both boards and edges. Endpapers and edges marbled. With the Tonbridge School crests to upper and lower boards and a Presentation label laid down on the pastedown in favour of E.G. Eardley-Wilmot from Joseph Wood. A few blotches of foxing to endpapers and titlepage but nonetheless this is a remarkably fresh and bright copy of this standard work on Greece and its antiquities.
