Second Large Printing. Square 8vo. Original light brown boards with the torn (and repaired) dust-jacket, a few chunks missing. Loosely inserted is an printed invoice from London Express News & Feature Services, dated 29th January, 1964, made out to Arthur Fellig, with the envelope showing his address as 343 Cherry Street, New York City. The first book of Arthur Fellig, known to the world as Weegee for his stark black and white street photography. He worked in the Lower East Side of New York City as a press photographer during the 1930s and '40s, and developed his signature style by following the city's emergency services and documenting their activity. Much of his work depicted unflinchingly realistic scenes of urban life, crime, injury and death.
