Born in Buckinghamshire, Angela Lemaire went to the Chelsea School of Art (1963) and the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts (1964-67, Dip. AD.) where she studied under Michael Rothenstein. She learned the art of wood-engraving from Frank Martin, and was also largely self-taught. She is a member of The Society of Wood Engravers.
