Hardback with the excellent, unclipped, dust-jacket. Original pale blue boards, illustrated endpapers. 168 pages, four plates of b/w photographs. Edges of jacket very slightly rubbed in a few places including ends of the spine. No old inscriptions. A biography of the talented but tragic Anna Kavan, British novelist, short story writer and painter, who originally publishing under her first married name, Helen Ferguson, before adopting the name Anna Kavan in 1939 as her legal identity. Around 1943 she also took a secretarial position at Horizon, an influential literary magazine edited by Cyril Connolly and founded by Peter Watson, one of her friends.
