First Edition. Publisher's black cloth with the yellow Gollancz dust-jacket in excellent, unclipped, condition. Spine and upper board lettered in gilt; head of the spine and points of corners rubbed; foot of spine rolled; bottom edge of boards a touch bumped in places. Dust-jacket is untorn with some light creasing along top edge and mild toning to the backstrip; jacket flaps have a small residue mark from tape used to secure the book-protector to the flaps. Text block slightly toned with light foxing to endpapers and edges of pages. Faint owner signature to front endpaper and small tape residue mark. A VG+ copy of the author's second book following Jamaica Inn. Rebecca became one of du Maurier's most successful works. A major hit on publication, it went on to sell nearly 3 million copies between 1938 and 1965 and has never fallen out of print. The story of a shy young bride haunted by the spectre of her older husband's first wife, Daphne du Maurier's 1938 masterpiece opens with the immortal line: "Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again."
