With twelve coloured plates and endpapers by Rackham, including frontispiece, and numerous black and white illustrations in the text. Decorative titlepage. Spots of foxing to endpapers and edges of the pages. Cloth a touch wrinkled with a hint of shelfwear to head and tail of the spine. A near Fine copy. The Ingoldsby Legends is an anthology of myths, legends, ghost stories and poetry authored by Thomas Ingoldsby the sobriquet of an Kentish clergyman named Richard Harris Barham (1788-1845). Barham was born in Canterbury. After father died when he was a child he inherited a small estate which included the manor of Tappington, in Denton, Kent, mentioned frequently in The Legends.
