First Edition. Original red cloth with the unclipped dust-jacket, slightly chipped at ends of spine and with the odd nick at edges and some areas of sun fading. With 22 illustrations of pubs and pub characters by Ted Aridizzone, including sketches of such well-known London hostelries as The Warrington (Maida Vale), the Spread Eagle (Oxford St) and the Red Lion (Barnes). The follow-up to the 1939 "The Local" which is now hard to find.
