Foxing to titlepages and prelims in both vols, rather heavy towards the end of v2. Boards generally rubbed at edges, sides a touch scraped in places, small area of surface leather chipped of head of spine in first vol. A decent set, presents well. John Christian Curwen came from a Manx family and was a first cousin of Fletcher Christian, the Mutineer of 'The Bounty'. For the best part of forty years he was MP for Carlisle and Cumberland, and a friend of Edmund Burke.
