Washington D.C. Infantry Journal Press, 1950
First Edition thus, originally published in translation in 1943 by Random House. 8vo. pp xxxiii, 641. Original gray cloth with the dust-jacket, unclipped and in very nice order. Text pages somewhat toned, with former owner's signature to flyleaf. "Vom Kriege" was written by Prussian general Carl von Clausewitz (1780–1831), mainly after the Napoleonic Wars, between 1816 and 1830, and published posthumously by his wife Marie von Brühl in 1832. It is still seen as an important treatises on political-military analysis and strategy, with the Jolles translation generally reckoned by scholars to be the most accurate existing English translation.
