Bound by Zaehnsdorf in full calf, gilt, prize binding signed and dated (Jan.18 1893), with raised bands, gilt inner dentelles, and a small circular binder's device at the foot of inside lower board. 8vo (9.5 x 6.5 ins); pp xvi, 326, [4]; 42 engraved plates, including additional titlepage, one map, and numerous vignette engravings through the text. All edges gilt. Spine faded and corner tips bumped with some small areas of discolouration to boards. A few spots of foxing to endpapers and the titlepage which is printed in red and black.
