This is an uncommonly nice copy with no splitting to the acetate film covering and no old inscriptions or scrawls which often accompany this title. The novel was first published in the USA in 1964 but not until three years later in the UK (1967). Considered the author's most enduring and popular work for children, it has been reproduced many times and adapted for musical films twice, once in 1971 starring Gene Wilder as Wonka, and another in 2005 directed by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp as the eccentric chocolate factory boss.
