A wonderful collection of Brandt's best work since 1931, opening with shots of life in London in the 1930s (Kensington drawing-rooms, cocktails in a Surrey garden, servants in a Mayfair house, a family room in the East End), followed by industrial northern towns, through the Blitz in London, then into the fifties with Dylan Thomas, St Germain des Près, the Sitwells, Graham Greene, Cyril Connolly, EM Forster.
