Quarter vellum over blueish-green paper-covered boards, gilt titles to the spine, untrimmed page edges. Narrow 12mo. pp xiv, 32, [4 blanks]. Edition limited to 430 numbered copies and printed under the supervision of Bruce Rogers at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, this being copy number 319, "printed at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, in the month of September, MNCCCCIII". Woodcut titlepage printed in red and black, the sonnets and the English translations are laid out on facing pages within single and double red rules. The typography is by the notable American book designer Bruce Rogers (1870-1957). Slight rubbing to boards and light soiling to spine. Without old inscription or other internal markings. A VG+ copy, without the original slipcase. The 'Note' at the front states 'The introduction is based essentially upon a paper "Sunshine and Petrarch" which originally included most of the sonnets in this volume. In was written at Newport, R.I. where the translator was then residing'.
