First Edition, first impression with date of May 1907 at imprint page. 8vo. pp x + 381. Three coloured plates (behind captioned tissue-guards) and 35 b/w plates and maps, two of which are folding. Publisher's pale brown buckram with gilt blocked lettering to front and spine in addition to a circular coloured image of a man in driving gear hard at the wheel of his automobile. Top edge of the text block gilt. Illustrated endpapers. Title page printed in red and black. A fine copy. With the business card of Edward Tenison Collins (1859-1925), of the Royal Societies Club, laid down to first pastedown. Tenison Collins was from Cardiff and attained the rank of Lieut-Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War I. He is buried at Cathays, outside Cardiff.
