First Edition. Small 8vo (8 x 5.5 ins); pp [vi] + 326 + [2] [publisher's adverts. 15 illustrated leaves, from photographs by Mr P. Klier and by 'Messrs. Watts and Skeen of Rangoon', including the fontispiece. Original crimson red cloth with gold lettering to the spine, which is slightly sun faded. Front and back endpapers well toned and rather brittle. Text block a touch shaken but still a near fine copy. Uncommonly found in publisher's binding. About a third of the book is given over examining the character and lifestyle of the Burmese dacoit, or bandit, whom the author studied closely during his six year residence in the country. Also two stories about tigers and much first hand experience of the life and culture of Burmese people.
