Photographic frontispiece (behind tissue); half-title; large folding coloured map at the rear, and numerous photograph and illustrations in the text including many full page. Publisher's red cloth with gilt, dragon-themed panel to front, gilt lettering to the spine which is slightly faded. Edges and corner tips well rubbed, light soiling to boards. The map has a 3 inch split at one of the folds and a small tear near where it is attached to the text block. Spots of foxing to endpapers and intermittently elsewhere. Lean to text block. An about VG copy. Angus Hamilton was a British journalist who reported for a number of newspapers and journals between 1894 and 1912. Among the events he covered were the Boer War in South Africa, the Boxer uprising in China, and the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05. He spent several months in Korea as the Far East correspondent of the Pall Mall Gazette.
