Finely bounds by Bickers (although not stated as such) in superb, blue crushed morocco, executed for Sylvia Alley, dated 18 October 1905, and with her name to front pastedown in gilt; titles in gilt direct to spine, raised bands with compartments ornately tooled with floral motifs in gilt, intricate central wheel motif in gilt to boards, quartered and repeated in each corner, with double gilt fillet frames, turn-ins delicately tooled with motifs of moon crescent and flowers in gilt, central panel to pastedowns and free endpapers in white watered silk; all edges gilt. Lithographic frontispiece. A hint of rubbing to extremities, discreet colour touch-ups, binding otherwise sharp, light spots of foxing to front endpapers. Frontispiece with tissue-guard. A superbly bound copy of Tennyson's great Arthurian poetry cycle, first published between 1856 and 1885, this edition in the Golden Treasury series.
