Second edition, first illustrated. Cloth backed marbled boards with the slightly rubbed and darkened dust-jacket. Foxing to title pages, some light foxing to inside pages else a clean and tight copy. With ten wood engraved illustrations by John Farleigh. An early draft of this story was first published in 1929 in a limited edition by the Black Sun Press in Paris, under the title The Escaped Cock. A limited edition was first published by Martin Secker in March 1931, who also issued a trade edition in September that same year.
