WAUGH, Evelyn SKU: 21266 Barcode:
New York: Farrar and Rinehart Incorporated on Murray Hill, New York, 1932.
First American Edition under the Farrar and Rhinehart imprint, although around 150 copies were published the same year by Harrison & Smith before Waugh fell out with them over payment of an advance and took the project to Farrar and Rinehart. Original mustard coloured cloth with the Farrar emblem embossed to front, title lettering to spine. With the excellent and unclipped dust-jacket, ends of the spine a touch rubbed; endpapers mildly tanned. A near fine copy of Waugh's second travel book. Originally published in the same year in the UK as 'Remote People', this is an account of his Ethiopian travels to attend the Coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie. 'They were still dancing' was Waugh's preferred title, appearing as the first four words in the book.
