Water staining to upper margin of preliminary pages and first nine leaves of text. including the titlepage which is stained. Very scarce. Owner's name to front pastedown. Bibliography on page 94 lists thirteen titles on the subject. The author was educated at Marlborough and Trinity College. Cambridge and the author or several books on mountaineering. He was elected president of the Climbers' Club in 1913. in this work he discusses the various schools of walls, ideal clothing for climbing, and the various hazards that one might meet during a climb, ie guttering and drain pipes.
